Here’s how you can make sure you’re ready for the May 2026 Garland City Council Election.
🗓️ Key Election Dates – May 2026 Municipal Election
Event: Voter Registration Deadline, Date (Tentative): Monday, April 6, 2026, Details: Must be registered to vote in Texas by this date to participate in the May election.
Event: Early Voting Begins, Date (Tentative): Monday, April 20, 2026, Details: Early voting locations open across Garland and Dallas County.
Event: Early Voting Ends, Date (Tentative): Friday, May 1, 2026, Details: Last day for early in-person voting.
Event: Election Day, Date (Tentative): Saturday, May 2, 2026, Details: Polls open 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. in Garland.
🗓️ Dates will be confirmed by the Dallas County Elections Department once the official election calendar is released.

Dallas County Voters:
Visit DallasCountyVotes.org for polling locations, sample ballots, and wait-time information.
Collin County Voters (if applicable):
Visit CollinCountyTX.gov/elections for early-voting and Election Day sites.
You may vote at any polling location in your county during early voting and on Election Day.

🪪 What to Bring When You Vote
Texas law requires photo identification to vote in person.
Acceptable forms of ID include:

Texas Driver License or ID Card

Texas Election Identification Certificate

Texas Handgun License

U.S. Military ID with photo

U.S. Citizenship Certificate with photo

U.S. Passport
If you don’t have one of the above, you may still vote by completing a Reasonable Impediment Declaration and presenting an alternate document such as a utility bill or bank statement.

📬 Voting by Mail
You may be eligible to vote by mail if you are:

65 years of age or older,

Disabled,
-
Out of the county during the election, or

Confined in jail but otherwise eligible to vote.
